Data · AI · Finance — Hong Kong
Hi, I'm Matthew.
I'm Head of Data at a Hong Kong fintech, and spend the rest of my time building AI experiments and writing about what I learn — mostly where AI meets finance and ESG.

What I'm working on now
An AI Fund House
A paper-trading fund where AI agents act as analyst, risk manager and CIO — and I approve every trade.
Weekly notes on AI & data
Latest: how AI agents are changing the economics of cyberattacks, and what it means for data teams.
How the great traders find their trades
Studying Livermore, O'Neill, Minervini and Qullamaggie — then backtesting their signals across asset classes to see what could power a quant fund.
Things I've built
Side projects where I test an idea end to end — and write up what worked and what didn't.
AI Fund House
A multi-agent paper-trading fund, with risk limits enforced in code.
Read the write-up →From trading bot to trading agents
My MSc reinforcement-learning trading bot, rebuilt six years later with LLM agents.

Looking at Hong Kong listed companies where rating providers diverge — and why.

Short essays on AI, data and finance. New ones every week.About
From the client's side of the table to building AI
I started my career in wealth management, helping clients plan their money. I enjoyed the analysis more than anything else — so I earned my FRM, and on the side co-founded a small centre teaching students science and maths.
Then I left finance to study artificial intelligence in London, graduating with Distinction in 2020. Today I'm Head of Data at a Hong Kong fintech, where finance, ESG and AI meet every day.
This site is where I share what I'm building, reading and thinking about. Outside work, you'll usually find me travelling, on a badminton court, or out with a camera.
Let's work on something together.
I'm always glad to talk about speaking at an event, testing an AI idea, guest writing or podcasts, or moving into data from another career.
